A full evening’s entertainment with a “wink” to Jimi Hendrix! Many feel Jimi has been the re-inventor of electric guitar so why not honour him for this title in a tour that is called “Guitar Greats”. Three incredible guitarists will play their own music but also treat you to some cool Jimi Hendrix stuff!  Jan Akkerman, Ana Popovic and The Hendrix Files will give you a night to remember!

Jan Akkerman

The headliner for this ‘Guitar Greats Tour 2007’ is none less than Dutch legend on guitar Jan Akkerman. By now everybody knows he was voted best guitarist in the world back in the 70’s but the way Jan Akkerman still keeps on playing and composing, fully involved in contemporary music proves the legend continues to rock. During his nearly 50-year career, he did almost anything a musician could possibly do. Even now, he has been developing himself towards new musical fields with a sheer enthusiasm which is so typical for all his projects so far.

Ana Popovic

‘Guitar Greats Tour 2007' is proud to present the charming young blues singer, songwriter and guitarist ANA POPOVIC. Ana is considered Europe's premier blues acts and as one of its' hottest guitar players. Popovic, born in Serbia and currently living in the Netherlands, is the only continental European Artist ever to be nominated for a W.C. Handy Award and is a winner of one of France's oldest and most prestigious awards a 'Jazz A Juan Revelations' at Juan Les Pines (2003). She was also nominated for 'The Best Blues Album' at the Jammie Awards, New York, (2003).

The Hendrix Files

In the summer of 2005 three friends decided to turn their fascination for Jimi's music into a Jimi Hendrix tribute band. They started to rehearse and soon Charly Verbinnen (guitar), Hans Boeye (drums) and Geert Schuurmans (bass) decided it was time to look for the missing link: vocals. At the same time Phil Bee saw an add on the internet and so the curiosity was soon turned into a first rehearsal. After the first tones of ‘Freedom’ there was no turning back, a Hendrix tribute band was born and boy what a band.
